A Bit of Background

I am a daughter, sister to 3 brothers, partner and mother of 2 young children.

I love singing, dancing, motorbike riding and camping and live on a 5 acres property within the beautiful little country town of Palmwoods, QLD Australia.

Professionally, I have worked in the Financial Services Industry since 2002. All bar one year of that, with the one Financial Planning Company. In January 2016, I decided to launch my own business and built this up on the side as I continued to work part-time with that company. In August 2017, I resigned and today I work full-time on my own business.

During the 14 odd years that I worked for that one Financial Planning Company, I held various positions starting out as the only Administration Assistant to Administration Manager, as the business grew. I have also been a Personal Assistant, Mortgage Broker, Commissions Manager and a Transitions Officer.

I was involved in the creation, preparation, and training of Financial Advisers, Insurance Broker and their Support Staff at the various events that we held and also assisted in the set-up of 2 new companies run by the same Directors, documenting all of the back-end office processes and procedures.

My Story

My business originally developed as a result of me neglecting the most important person in this world – myself – to the many roles and responsibilities that I fulfilled in my life.

I was unsatisfied at work, had no social life, felt as though I was living groundhog day and was over the financial stress we were experiencing as a young couple with kids and a mortgage.

All I knew was that I had a burning desire to run my own business … BUT The problem was, I had no idea what that was. I felt so lost, I couldn’t even answer the following question:

If you could do anything in this world, not thinking about the money side of things, what would you want to be doing?

What would make you happy?

The truth is that I believed that there had to be more to life than just surviving and going through the motions. And as I spoke to more and more Women, the more I realised that I wasn’t the only one who felt like this and so I literally Googled one night – How To Empower Women.

This simple exercise, lead me to set up T.O.T.E.M (Time Out To Empower Myself) Escapes in March 2016, an all-inclusive weekend escape for Women looking to reconnect with themselves.

It was also the time where I learnt my biggest lesson in business………….YOU MUST CREATE A FOLLOWING FIRST.

Like many starting out in business, I got caught up in this magnificent idea that I honestly thought that if I created it, they (the clients) would come. Some did but unfortunately, not enough to make it profitable and so the following month, I decided to start smaller and build my following by offering monthly Mini T.O.T.E.M Escape events.

I created some truly amazing friendships, had a social life at last and started connecting with me more. Not only that, but those who attended, the majority were in business themselves and I found that I was able to draw on my 14 odd years experience within the Corporate World to assist them to move forward within their businesses and so I eventually transitioned into running monthly Ladypreneurs Rising Networking Events in January 2017, which I still run today.

By mid-2017, I still hungered for a new challenge and wanted to improve our household income and so, I got involved in an affiliate program which I had quick success in and which allowed me to finally leave my day job (the last of my goals to achieve). Unfortunately, the program did not align with my values for running a business though – integrity is important to me – and so a few months into it, I left which meant that the only option I was left with, was to develop my own ‘thing’ … AND FAST!

This honestly was the best thing that could have ever happened to me.

It gave me the kick in the pants that I needed to step up, play a bigger game and get more serious about my business rather than just skirting around the outside.

Today, I am proud to say that I have finally found my groove through ALL of my experiences and by being open-minded enough to pivot my business as I figured out more of who I was and what my strengths were.

Now I get to play to my strengths and not only run events, but also provide DFY (Done-For-You) Solutions for my clients which focus on Facebook Marketing using free strategies and creating systems that bring order to the chaos that running a business can create so that they too can focus on playing to their own strengths.

It has been an amazing journey of learning, growing, leading, building my confidence around what it is that I can offer others and at the same time, developing some truly amazing life-long friendships.

I am very passionate about seeing other Women THRIVE through education, information and connection so that they can find their feet, live their dream, propel their business success and ultimately, bring more happiness into their lives.
